Modernisation of Kragujevac and Pančevo Prison Facilities: Design Review, Tender Documents, and Procurement Assistance

Modernisation of Kragujevac and Pančevo Prison Facilities: Design Review, Tender Documents, and Procurement Assistance

Project Description

Within the scope of the Serbian government programme on judiciary facilities modernisation, prisons were also encompassed. Considering the increase in prison population and problems with the regional or local allocation of existing district prisons compared to actual needs, it has been decided that the construction of two new prisons should be considered a priority. In this way, additional space would be created for 900 inmates by constructing new district prisons in Kragujevac and Pancevo for 400 and 500 inmates, respectively.

As part of WBIF's comprehensive technical assistance for constructing and equipping two district prisons, a TA grant, the third in a row, was awarded to enable continuity in the design and preparatory activities. Specifically, this grant has covered the technical control of the local main designs and assistance in the preparation of tender dossiers for construction works on both prisons.
