Construction of Main Road Scepan Polje - Pluzine (Bosnia and Herzegovina Border)

Project Description

The road between Scepan Polje and Pluzine is the main road connecting Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Together with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s section from Foca (Brod na Drini) to Hum, this would be the shortest connecting line between the two capitals: Sarajevo and Podgorica. It would also be the shortest line from Albania via Montenegro and BiH to Central Europe via Corridor Vc.

Building upon the previously approved WBIF TA grant for identification and preparation of the Feasibility Study Phase 1 for the Main Road Scepan Polje - Pluzine in the amount of €150,000, WBIF allocated another grant in the amount of €550,000 for the preparation of the Preliminary design in Phase 2.

The main benefits of the investment refer to reduced vehicle operating costs, a better environment in adjacent urban areas, reduced travel time and distance for people and goods, an increase in the employment rate in the country, and an improvement in the local economy competitiveness within the road gravity area.
