This investment concerns the rehabilitation of 30 physical education facilities (PEFs), as well as equipping 50 existing schools throughout North Macedonia. As such, these improvements complement the existing investment programme initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science in 2009 aimed at constructing 70 physical education facilities and rehabilitating more than 60 primary and secondary schools.
The interventions financed through the WBIF grant vary from the roof, windows, and floor replacement to the reconstruction of sanitary facilities, removal of roof asbestos, and general repairs of the heating and electrical systems.
The purpose of investments is to improve the performance of students in school subjects, strengthen their health condition, increase enrolment rates and foster inclusive socio-economic development by offering a better learning environment, including physical education.
