Danube Strategy

Danube Strategy

 

The European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) is a macro-regional strategy adopted by the European Commission in December 2010 and endorsed by the European Council in 2011. The Strategy seeks to create synergies and coordination between existing policies and initiatives taking place across 14 countries in the Danube Region, including Western Balkans countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro). Some of the priority areas of the EUSDR are directly relevant to WBIF sectors of operation and the IFI Coordination Office is working in close collaboration with DG Regio to promote the use of the WBIF for the financing of investments projects relevant to EUSDR and to develop better synergies between the two initiatives where applicable.

The International Sava River Basin Commission

 

LogoS ISRBCThe International Sava River Basin Commission (ISRBC) supports the implementation of the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin, which seeks to provide: an international regime of navigation on the Sava River and its navigable tributaries, which includes the provision of conditions for safe navigation on the Sava, sustainable water management, and measures to prevent or limit hazards and accidents. The Zagreb based Commission was established in 2006 by the signatory parties of the Framework Agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.
