The Regional Cooperation Council
The Regional Cooperation Council promotes mutual cooperation and European and Euro-Atlantic integration of South Eastern Europe in order to inspire development in the region to the benefit of its people.
Energy Community
The Secretariat of the Energy Community Treaty monitors and assists the implementation process of the Treaty through a number of specialised fora and task forces. Further to its energy policy activities, it also provides administrative support to the other Energy Community institutions. Established in Vienna after the Treaty's signature in 2005 the Secretariat is supported by the EU and by the signatories to the Treaty.
Regional Environmental Network for Accession
The Regional Environmental Network for Accession (RENA) aims to facilitate exchange of experience and best practice in preparation for accession between Member States and between the Western Balkans and Turkey. RENA works at the political level with ministerial meetings and through technical meetings such as seminars, trainings and other capacity building activities. The project was established in 2010 and its secretariat is based in Vienna. RENA is supported by the EC and managed by DG Environment.
South East European Transport Observatory
The South East Europe Transport Observatory (SEETO) is the regional transport organization established by the 2004 MoU between South East Europe Regional Participants and the EC in the context of the Core Regional Transport Network. The aims of SEETO include the promotion of cooperation on the development of the Network and the enhancement of capacity for investment programmes. Based in Belgrade SEETO's Secretariat is supported by its regional participants.
South East Europe Investment Committee
Launched by South East European countries to enhance regional leadership for common strategies, the South East Europe Investment Committee supports the implementation of policies promoting foreign and domestic investment.
The International Sava River Basin Commission
The International Sava River Basin Commission (ISRBC) supports the implementation of the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin, which seeks to provide: an international regime of navigation on the Sava River and its navigable tributaries, which includes the provision of conditions for safe navigation on the Sava, sustainable water management, and measures to prevent or limit hazards and accidents. The Zagreb based Commission was established in 2006 by the signatory parties of the Framework Agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.
The Danube and Black Sea Task Force – DABLAS
The countries of the Danube and Black Sea region established the DABLAS Task Force in 2001 to provide a platform for cooperation for the protection of the water-related ecosystems. DABLAS seeks to bring cohesion to the process of financing of TA and investments, identifying priority objectives common, encouraging a more strategic focus of available financing, and ensuring co-ordinated action between all financial instruments. The DABLAS operates through regular annual meetings amongst its members and is chaired by the EC which funds the Task Force.
Horizon 2020 Elaboration of a Hot Spot Inventory for the Western Balkans and Turkey
As one of the key initiatives run under the Union for the Mediterranean, Horizon 2020 addresses issues of municipal waste, wastewater treatment and industrial emissions. Under its pollution reduction component, it works with partner countries to identify and develop priority investment projects. In 2010 it was extended to coastal countries of the Western Balkans and to Turkey, expanding the identification of environmental hot spot investments and identification of funding sources. The project is supported by the EC and managed by DGs Environment and EuropeAid.
