This assistance is directed towards ensuring that the candidate and potential candidates meet the conditions established for accession.  A range of technical & financial assistance is provided by the EC, mainly through IPA (national and multi-beneficiary programmes).

Council of Europe Development Bank

 

LogoS CEBThe Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) is a multilateral development bank with a social vocation. The CEB contributes to the implementation of socially oriented investment projects through three sectoral lines of action, namely: strengthening social integration; managing the environment; and supporting public infrastructure with a social vocation.  The CEB is active in the Western Balkans region, particularly in the area of public social infrastructure.

 

The CEB is a founding member of the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

 

 

European Investment bank

 

LogoS EIBThe European Investment Bank's mission is to further the objectives of the European Union by making long-term finance available for sound investments.  The EIB has been active in the countries of the Western Balkans for several years and is increasing its long-term lending in the region.  The EIB offers five main services to its clients:  loan; technical assistance; guarantees, venture capital and micro finance.

 

The EIB is a founding member of the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

 

 

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

 

LogoS EBRDThe EBRD is an international financial institution that supports projects from central Europe to central Asia. Investing primarily in private sector clients whose needs cannot be fully met by the market, the Bank fosters transition towards open and democratic market economies. In all its operations the EBRD follows the highest standards of corporate governance and sustainable development.

 

The EBRD is a founding member of the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

 

 

The World Bank

 

LogoS WBThe World Bank's mission is to fight poverty and to help people help themselves by providing resources, sharing knowledge, building capacity and forging partnerships in the public and private sectors.  The Western Balkans has long been a key area of interest for the World Bank and falls within its Europe and Central Asia region (ECA). To help ECA countries address these challenges in 2010 and beyond, the World Bank programs in the Region will focus on three strategic directions: increasing competitiveness to achieve faster growth; supporting fiscal adjustment and social sector reforms to achieve more inclusive growth; and aiding climate action to achieve more sustainable growth.

 

 

Black Sea Trade and Development Bank

 

The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) is an international financial institution established by Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine. With an authorized capital of SDR 3 billion, the Bank supports economic development and regional cooperation by providing trade and project financing, guarantees, and equity for development projects supporting both public and private enterprises in its member countries. Since 1999, BSTDB cumulative portfolio in its 11 member countries reached 227 operations in the key sectors of infrastructure, energy, transport, manufacturing, telecommunications, financial sector and other important areas to the total amount of EUR 2.1 billion.

LogoS KfWKfW provides financial assistance in line with wider German development policy.  It offers support to encourage sustainable improvement in economic, social, ecological living and business conditions, amongst others in the areas of small and medium-sized enterprise, entrepreneurship, environmental protection, housing, infrastructure, education, finance, and development cooperation.
